Efi Michalarou interviews Shahpour Pouyan following the opening of his solo We owe this considerable land to the horizon line at Galerie Nathalie Obadia.
Michalarou speaks to Pouyan about his practice and his new works, which include illustrations based on a selection of Persian miniatures depicting scenes from the ascension of Prophet Muhammad and 28 ceramic domes. The artist describes the domes as, "works made from high fired clay and have no glaze. I wanted to create an imaginary, dreamy landscape which resembles an utopian sketch [...] A promised land which has not been built and you know it will fail."
